Artists watched: Piroshka, International Teachers Of Pop
It hasn't been too long since I saw Piroshka, but I couldn't pass up on this one. And it also means I've seen Piroshka as many times as I've seen Lush now!
Wait ... I live in Essex, and this is on a Sunday afternoon? By the biggest of coincidences, I had already written "Go to Lancaster" in my diary for this particular day, to pick up my son from university for the summer. So when I find that Piroshka and the hotly-tipped ITOP are playing a gig IN THE TOWN LIBRARY at LUNCHTIME, I had to sort myself out for that one ...
So my plan now was ... leave Essex at 7am, get to Lancaster, have lunch, go and interview Miki from Piroshka, see the gig, then collect son and drive back home! All achieved - the two journeys of 262 miles just flew by ...
First up was International Teachers of Pop, who have a great Space 1999 vibe, with music from the era to match - although they still sound up to date. It was intense. They're probably the band Abba wanted to be when they started out.
I didn't take the last pic - I took all the others on this page though
Piroshka pretty much played the same set as a few weeks ago, because that's their set - although there were a couple of new tracks snuck in. And I did interview Miki, and she was absolutely lovely. I'm not sure what she thought of me when I told her I'd made a 520 mile round trip to do the interview ...
