BBC Maida Vale studios, London
Artists watched: Sleeper
I'd already booked to see British Sea Power in Lewes tonight and when the opportunity came up to see Sleeper perform at the BBC Maida Vale studios for free, I had a quick look at the map to see if we could do it. Billericay - Maida Vale - Lewes. No problem!
I'd been here once before for a Latitude Festival launch party back in 2013 where Steve Mason performed live. I also knew that despite being in the middle of London it was pretty easy to park outside the studio (and for free too!)
We got to the studios at around 3.30pm and were in around 4pm. There were about 200 people there altogether, including Graham Crabb from Pop Will Eat Itself who was DJing, and Craig Charles who turned up fashionably late.
Steve Lamacq's 6 music show was being broadcast live and he was wandering around too from time to time. He came out of the studio at 5.30pm to introduce Sleeper who them proceeded to play a short set made up of oldies and new tracks from The Modern Age, which is due for release next month.
Half an hour later we were done and heading out of town towards the next gig!
- Look at You Now
- What Do I Do Now?
- The Modern Age
- The Sun Also Rises
- Sale of the Century
