Artists watched: Smokin' Donuts

First time seeing the Smokin' Donuts, a new duo featuring local singer/songwriter Doozer who I have seen live quite a few times, and Les Carter from Carter USM who I have seen many, many times.

A very local one for me as tonight's show was held in a fairly quiet Billericay High Street at the Chequers pub. The venue isn't too large but it was nicely filled out and had an appreciative crowd in.

The set consists of a number of newly-written tunes and a few songs from the two respective back catalogues, although my memory escapes me as to which songs were actually played. Sheriff Fatman, almost certainly. And Maria's Umbrella, Abdoujaparov's second single which is almost 20 years old now. I've got video evidence of that.

The duo are writing, recording and touring feverishly at the moment and I've persuaded them to come down to Brentwood to record a session in the near future, which is always good.
