Ticket for Soft Cell

SOFT CELL'S LAST EVER GIG. A bit of a no-brainer to get tickets for this one, no? Despite selling out the 20,000-capacity O2 in London, I heard a LOT of people say "oh I wish I'd bothered to get tickets before it sold out ..."

The O2 is actually the world's busiest arena too - they sold 1.44 million gig tickets in 2017. I don't like it. It's a big soulless bowl. However the crowd did their best to create an atmosphere.

The O2

Just my third Soft Cell gig and my first since 2002's V Festival when they played the tent. In fact during my three gigs I've seen them in exponentially bigger venues, since the first time was in 2001 at the now-defunct Ocean in Hackney.

Soft Cell

It was a great setlist, playing a lot of more obscure tracks, including some of the excellent non-single tracks from their early albums. A definite crowd-pleaser of a set.

Soft Cell

Mari Wilson joined in for a duet on Last Chance, and some songs were performed live for the first (and last) time - Where The Heart Is, Meet Murder My Angel, So, Northern Lights and What!

Other songs were performed for the first time since 1983, including Numbers and Frustration.

Soft Cell

All in all, 2 hours and 40 minutes - one of the longest shows I've been to and an amazing performance.
