Artists watched: Steve Hackett
A good 30 years after I first saw Steve Hackett live - and maybe 47 years since he first played with Genesis - Steve Hackett is still going strong!
Interest in Steve has definitely increased over the last few years due to his constant touring of Genesis tracks along with his own (excellent) repertoire - the shows are greatly helped by an excellent cast of supporting musicians and in Nad Sylvan a guy who sounds exactly like Peter Gabriel. Sometimes you can close your eyes and imagine that it really is 1971 ...
That interest has translated into record sales too with 2015's Wolflight charting in the UK album charts at 31 and his last album, 2017's The Night Siren, pearking at 28 - his highest placed studio album since 1980's Defector!
(In three months time he'll release At The Edge Of Light which will also chart at 28 in the UK, and no 13 in Germany!)
What can I say? Another memorable performance. 13 songs looks like a short set, but of course it's a 2hr+ marathon. And it just flew by.
